Projects and Fundraising
The HSA raises funds for its activities through dues, generous annual contributions from Lafayette families, and a variety of fundraisers.
The HSA has offered the following types of support:
- Hire and pay the salaries of full-time and/or part-time art, music, and peace teachers

- Provide grants to teachers to support their activities and help purchase classroom supplies
- Fund weekly student newsletters and other student publications
- Provide subsidies to ensure that all students can participate in field trips and other activities
- Give annual grants to allow the music teachers to buy instruments and other necessities, the art teacher to buy supplies, and the librarian to purchase new books annually
- Support the volunteer-run foreign language program (FLP)
- Plan and carry out improvements to the school building and grounds.

In recent years, HSA capital improvement projects have included:
- Renovating the cafeteria/auditorium
- Renovating the library
- Improving a portion of the outside recreation area (in collaboration with the Friends of Lafayette Park)
- Supporting landscaping work in front of the school
- Repairing bathrooms
- Repairing the cafeteria kitchen area.
