Enrollment

It is important that all students turn in their enrollment forms as early as possible so that we can predict and plan for next year. Without actual data, our school may not be eligible for the funding it needs to fully staff our classrooms and run our school effectively. Please complete and return your enrollment forms as soon as possible.

Enrollment

If you received an enrollment packet in the mail, please complete all enclosed forms and return them to the front office at the school. If you lost or didn't receive a packet, please go to the DCPS enrollment website, which contains all of the forms you need. Enrollment forms may be submitted without the health forms, as long as health forms are submitted by the first day of school.

Proof of Residency

Every student must provide proof of residency in the Lafayette Elementary school district. See DSPS Proof of Residency guidelines.

Medical and Dental forms

All students must submit medical and dental forms to the Lafayette front office by the first day of school. For a complete list of medical, immunization, dental and medication forms, please see the DCPS health forms information and packets.

Pre-Kindergarten

Pre-K attendance is not compulsory in Washington, DC and DCPS does not guarantee spots for all students. Lafayette is fortunate to have four pre-K classrooms with a total of 80 pre-K students. Traditionally, demand for the pre-K spots exceeds available space at Lafayette. Lafayette uses the DCPS pre-K lottery system to allocate available pre-K spots. Pre-K students must turn 4 years old by September 30 to be eligible. The pre-K lottery for the 2010-2011school year is now closed. We will post more information on our site when the next lottery season opens. Please see the DCPS pre-K lottery website to learn more.

Kindergarten - Grade 5 (in-boundary)

If a family lives in-bounds for Lafayette Elementary, they may choose to send their child to Lafayette and will be guaranteed a spot at the school. A child must be 5 years old by September 30 to enter Kindergarten.

DCPS Out-of-Boundary Process

The out-of-boundary lottery for the 2010-2011 school year is now closed. Please see the DCPS Out-of-boundary lottery website for more information.
