What Do HSA Funds Pay For?

 

As the HSA ramps up its fundraising campaign, we want to make sure you know how those dollars directly impact your children’s education and enrichment. The priorities for these funds are set through a coordinated effort of the HSA and the school each year, looking at both the school’s needs and parent input, including the annual survey.  For a more detailed breakdown, see the chart and explanation below. Your dollars are critical! Only 1/4 of parents have donated to the HSA. Please give today!

 

 

Instructional support: Includes the Peace Program, the choir teachers, the drumline/band teacher, and recess programs. 

Classroom supplies:  Includes $425 per classroom teacher to be used at the teacher’s discretion to buy needed supplies- from posters to classroom manipulatives. It also includes funds for art supplies, funds for specials and special education classroom supplies (including counselors, PE, music etc.)

Student activities: Includes extracurricular activities including: archery, basketball uniforms, track/cross country uniforms, battle of the books, spelling bee, field day, nutrition and wellness (GROW), annual science expo, track invitational, march madness, new programs, Lafayette Gives Back, the 5th grade promotion ceremony, scholarship funds to help Lafayette families in need pay for school extras, and targeted “raise the paddle” projects such as the library loft. 

Educational needs: Includes library support, professional development resources for teachers, and the principal’s fund to be used at Dr. B’s discretion.

Teacher appreciation: Pays for Welcome Back and Teacher Appreciation Week luncheons for the teachers.

Facilities: Pays for items to help the school’s physical plant. In the past that has included snow blowers, classroom rugs and other items.
