5th grade students and their teachers are pleased to present Pass the Poetry, Please, an inter-disciplinary evening event celebrating poetry, music, and art. In honor of National Poetry Month, the event will feature Folger Shakespeare Library’s, Teri Cross Davis, teaching poet, who will host the poetry reading. Select 5th grade poets will perform original works, accompanied by jazz musicians, Zayani Sims and Joel Holmes. ALL 5th grade students will have a piece of poetry on display.
ALL our fifth graders will also have a piece of art on display advocating for a cause they feel is important. This assignment came out of our unit on art as propaganda during WWll and Civil Rights Art/Activists like Barbara Hogu-Jones.
Please join us for this exciting event in the Lafayette Cafetorium on Thursday, April 19, from 6:30-8 PM.
Reach out to Jessica Matthews-Meth with questions or if you’re able to volunteer for the event.
