We are thrilled to present your summer reading guide! Rising grades one through five will pair their reading with a project meant to nurture creativity and writing skills. Lafayette has partnered with DC Public Library to ensure that the reading list is filled with books available, for free, from your neighborhood library. They will also be available for purchase at a discount at some area bookstores.

This is the final edition for 2017-18! Thank you for your readership this year as we tried out and tested our new TB format alongside our revamped website. We hope you found it helpful and easy to navigate. 
The TB and the Lafayette website takes a team effort from many parents and staff who work behind the scenes to help keep our community informed. A huge helping of thanks goes to Taresh Mullick, Darby Pearson & Sophie Willis--the TB editors who work hours each week to get the newsletter out to you. Thank you also to Stacy Beck, Jamie Davis Smith, Sarah Remes & Lauren Roche-Garland for their incredible photographs of school events throughout the year. Ward 4 Family Fun Day!

Councilmember Brandon Todd is hosting Ward 4 Family Fun Day on Saturday, June 23rd at 3pm. It will be at the Kingsbury Day School, 5000 14th Street, NW. Join him for food, games and bingo, music, face-painting, pony rides, tennis, skating, and activities for all ages.

My name is Tanya L. Covington, I am a DCPS Lafayette Elementary School staff member. Experienced with Pre-K through Third grade children, as well as children with special needs. I've also worked for a pediatrician for several years.

During the Summer of 2018, I would like to offer my childcare services to the families of the Lafayette community. I am available to serve working, vacationing, out-of-town, date night-ers, and last minute need parents.

My rate is $40/hr. I am available overnight and weekends. Reliable references and background check will be provided upon request. CPR and First aid Certified Aid.

Summer Plans Not Completed Yet? Don’t Panic - Lafayette Tennis Summer Camp – Still Has Openings for weeks:

July 2, July 23, July 30, August 6, August 13, August 20

Haven’t planned out your kid’s entire summer yet? No worries! We still have lots of spots in our half and full day summer tennis camp. Fun for beginners through advance tennis players ages 4 through 15. Full and half day camps starting June 18 through August 25. We will be swimming at the Takoma Pool twice a week most weeks in the afternoon. Enjoy tennis, camaraderie, Lafayette Splash Park, BBM. NO ELECTRONICS! We go to the Citi Open in late July to see the pros play.

Please check tennis registration form and available dates. These camps will be for kids ages 4-15, all skill levels. If you have any questions, please contact Paul Rosenbaum at 202 441-0925.

Submissions for next week's issue should be emailed to news@lafayettehsa.org. Submissions are due by 9:00 p.m. on Sundays. Submissions received after this time will be included in the following issue, unless instructed otherwise.
