Dear Lafayette Families,

Greetings! We hope you have enjoyed the summer and are rested and ready for an exciting 2018-2019 school year. This summer the Lafayette Home School Association, your elected parent representatives, has been working on plans for what promises to be another amazing year for the Lafayette community. To those of you who are new to our school, we offer our warmest welcome. For those of you who are returning: welcome back.

Before the first bell rings, we want to say THANK YOU for all the time, treasure and talents you will bring to our school and our community in the months to come. We appreciate all the hard work and support Lafayette families put forth to help enhance our children’s school experience. Our school thrives because of you.

Your HSA

The Lafayette HSA is a group of volunteer parents, Lafayette staff and members of our neighborhood elected to represent the school community. We’re a 501(c)(3) non-profit group, like a traditional PTA. The HSA will be focused on several priorities in the upcoming school year.

1. Promoting inclusivity across our school and ensuring that our board members are accessible and supporting our entire community

2. Partnering closely with Dr. Broquard and other leaders within the school to align HSA activities in support of the school's priorities

3. Focusing on fundraising efforts to ensure that our students continue to have access to the unique programs and opportunities that make our school so special

One important change to the HSA for this upcoming school year is that we will no longer be collecting membership dues. This decision was made to ensure that all families are able to be a part of the HSA. Please join us at HSA general meetings and make your voice heard!

Donate to the Bear Fund
Without your generous support, Lafayette is unable to offer the well-rounded learning experience that has been a tradition at our school. The HSA provides around $300,000 annually to support our school community and programs including both grade-specific projects, extracurricular programs, and more. Importantly, we also help cover many building and school supplies costs so that Dr. B can focus her budget on teachers. More information on the fund, and how to donate, can be found here.

Volunteer (Please!)
Year after year, hundreds of Lafayette parents give their time to support our school and we greatly appreciate it. There are small, medium and large volunteer opportunities available - something that can work with any parent’s schedule. Click here to let us know how you think you can help or email volunteer@lafayettehsa.org.

In particular, we are currently looking for:
  • Fall Festival co-chairs
  • Legal support for HSA activities
  • Tuesday Bulletin Editor
  • Room Parents
