A Note From Dr. B

Dear Lafayette Families –

We have successfully completed our first month of school! In those four weeks we’ve had three Back to School Nights, had our first spirit week, celebrated Dot Day, had our first family movie night to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month, and had 106 parents get TB tests with Nurse Heidi!

Drop Off Lane

Our drop off lane is up and rolling – a huge thanks and shout out to our 3 rd grade parents and all the other “day of” drop in volunteers! We appreciate your help! As a reminder, Broad Branch Rd. (in front of school) is not a drop off lane. Please do not stop there – it is parking for our buses and our cars with accessible parking placards.

Volunteer Clearance

Thank you to all the parents who have already gotten their clearance letters for volunteering (18 of you!). We’re looking forward to seeing more of you at the fingerprinting days when DCPS will come out to Lafayette. Appointment sign ups are here and the waitlist signups are here. I know the fingerprinting appointments filled up quickly, and truly appreciate all of you who are making the trip downtown to 1200 1st St NE, 10th Floor to get cleared by DCPS. Thank you already to all of our parent volunteers that have helped make the opening of the school year spectacular! We couldn’t have done it without all of you! We are definitely looking forward to continuing our fall celebrations with the Fall Festival, which is coming up on October 19th.

Please enjoy this week of summer-esque weather. The cool fall air promises to eventually arrive. In the meantime, soak up the sun, and continue to bask in the joy of our community being back
to school.

Take care,
Dr. B
