We believe that building language proficiency through rich and engaging units of study provides students with a foundation of transferable skills and builds a lifelong passion for language learning.
Lafayette follows the DCPS Spanish language instruction, which is aligned with the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language (ACTFL) World Readiness Standards. These national standards seek to link culture and communication through language learning. The students use and develop these standards through the three models of language learning: interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational.
The Spanish curriculum is divided into 2 different grade bands: K-2 and 3-5. Students engage with themes over each course, progressing and growing as they move through their own development stages.
