The book fair was a huge success! The Lafayette community spent more than $22,000 on books! That’s an amazing marker of how important reading is to our scholars. All told, we raised more than $6,400 for our library.
During the book fair the Lafayette family supported not only our library–you generously donated books to our sister school, Takoma Education Campus. We sent three boxes of books to Takoma for their classroom libraries! Thank you for nurturing reading!
Thank you to our advance team who did a fantastic job organizing publicity and volunteers: Amy Joyce, Rae Trotman and Brianne Cohen. The book fair went smoothly because of all of the leg work they did in the weeks before. Thanks are always due to the HSA’s co-treasurers, Dave Mason and Clare Sant, and the inimitable Shannon Behm. They put in long hours handling the finances! Thank you to the many volunteers who set up the fair, helped our students select and purchase books during the fair, and packed it all up. The book fair wouldn’t
be possible without everyone’s help.
Happy reading in the New Year!
