Thanks to your generosity, the 3rd annual Lafayette Day of Service event was a huge success. Your donations and participation allowed our students to make:
– Diaper bundles for clients of the DC Diaper Bank including over 6,000 diapers!
– Over 700 sandwiches and snack mixes along with nearly 100 “comfort bags” containing notes of encouragement, hats, gloves, socks and toiletries for clients of Martha’s Table
– Over 50 welcome kits containing kids hats, gloves and socks for families in transition at Takoma Education Campus
– A box full of sweet Valentine’s Day greetings for residents at Knollwood Military Retirement Community (join us on Valentine’s Day to deliver those cards!)
Thank you to everyone who donated the crucial supplies and who brought your children to participate in the event! Huge thanks also to Lafayette Custodian Mr. Howell for all of his hard work behind the scenes; the many middle- and high-school volunteers who helped set up, facilitate and clean up; and to Stacy Beck, Sarah Remes, Rachel Levinson-Waldman, Abby Royal and Katie Burke for all of their work to pull it together.
