DOT DAY is Wednesday, September 15!!!

Wonder what IS Dot Day? The international Dot Day celebration was started by a teacher many years ago to celebrate the message of creativity, kindness and courage in Peter Reynold’s book “The Dot”

How will we celebrate at Lafayette? We will wear our dots to show we are all creative, kind, and Brave Enough to Make our Mark! The theme of Brave Enough fits right in with our school wide theme this year based on Amanda Gorman’s poem “The Hill We Climb” where she writes, “There is always light, if only we’re brave enough to see it, if only we’re brave enough to be it!” We will begin our day by reading “The Dot” in our morning meetings and discussing the important messages, we will show our creativity throughout the day, and we will enjoy bubbles and sidewalk chalk on the playground at recess!

Thank you, parents for encouraging your child to find or make an item of clothing with dots on it to wear Wednesday. It could be as simple as a t-shirt with a basketball, or some polka dot leggings or top, or a custom made shirt if that’s how your family rolls! If your child forgets, no stress as we will be prepared with some dot stickers to help them catch the spirit!
