Help needed in the library

Looking for a relaxing way to volunteer at our school?  Lafayette Library could use your help!

Shelvers
With nearly 900 busy readers, there are always books to be shelved!  No experience is necessary; Ms. Leese will train you.  While your schedule can be flexible, please plan to volunteer several times a month (ideally weekly).  Some lifting and bending are required.  As this is an ongoing volunteer position, you will need to apply for your clearances.  If you’d like to help shelve, please email Ms. Leese at .

DCPL book collector
Some families return Lafayette Library books to Chevy Chase Neighborhood Library by mistake.  The DCPL staff are great about setting them aside for Ms. Leese, but she’s unable to get to the library to collect them.  If your family are public library regulars who could collect Lafayette books from the children’s desk and return them to school, that help would be so appreciated!  Ideally, they would be asked at least once a month.  Multiple families could undertake this task.

Upcoming tasks
As we get into May and June, other volunteering opportunities will open up.  We’ll have to scan every book on the shelf for the year-end inventory.  Our annual book order will need to be unpacked!  Depending on schedules, clearances won’t always be needed for these tasks.  Stay tuned for more information later!

Thank you, everyone, for supporting our readers!
Ms. Leese
