Lafayette Gives Back: Thank You and Day of Service Information

Happy new year! We know things are off to a nutty start with omicron and snowstorms but we wanted to take a moment to give huge thanks to the incredibly generous and energetic Lafayette community for the amazing work of 2021. We went into “drive overdrive” there for a bit with the book drive, coat drive, two holiday gift drives and a food pantry drive — but every single time Lafayette community responded promptly and spared no expense. Lafayette Gives Back had way too many volunteers to be able to thank you by name, but we could not have done any of this without you. THANK YOU for reaching out to help and giving your time!

And now onto Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. In 1994, Congress passed legislation to transform the federal Martin Luther King Jr. holiday from a “day off” to a “day on” … in other words, a national day of service. In a non-pandemic year, we would normally gather en masse in the Lafayette cafeteria with several service stations for our students. This year, Lafayette Gives Back is delighted to join with Goods for Good to provide a COVID-safe service project that families can do on their own to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy of action to renew and strengthen communities.
