Math Team for 4th and 5th Grade Is Back!

Math Team is back! We are thrilled to be able to offer Math Team to students in 4th and 5th grade on Friday mornings at 8am before school. We meet weekly to solve, discuss and analyze non-routine problems. The majority of these problems are from the Continental Math League competition, a national organization that creates challenging contests for students.  We are trying something new this year where we give out the problem sets the week before we discuss them. Our hope is that students have some time to work on the problems during math class or at home before we get together and share our strategies. If they don’t get a chance to work on the set ahead of time, that’s okay! We give a little bit of time to work on the problems at the beginning of the session.

If you want to know more about Math Team, visit the Lafayette Technology Resources page and click “Math Team”. There is a link to the week’s problem set as well as an option to be added to our mailing list. You can also reach out to any of the math specialists for more information. We look forward to getting “mathtastic” again this year!
