Mayor Announces Plans for ReOpen

This morning, Mayor Bowser and Chancellor Ferebee announced DCPS’ plans to reopen one classroom per grade level and our special education self contained classrooms on November 9th.  You can find the Mayor’s update and watch the press conference at this link.  Today and in the coming days I will be working with central office staff to receive more details.  I am learning the information in real time with you, so I am working to obtain more details for all of us.

Please plan to join me for a Parent Huddle on Tuesday, 10/6 at 9:00 am OR 6:30 pm.  I will be sharing the highlights from the plan announced today as well as answering questions to the best of my ability.  If you have any questions you would like to share prior to the huddle, please enter them here:  Questions for Parent Huddle

I know this is a lot of information.  We will walk through all of the details together as we always do!  There is also a parent meeting for DCPS families Tuesday, October 6 at 5:30 p.m., and then on October 14 at 6:00 p.m. for our Term 2 community informational sessions. These virtual events will take place on Teams and you can RSVP here.

Looking forward to meeting with everyone over the next couple of days to discuss our next steps!  Thank you as always in advance for your patience and grace.  We are stronger together.

Be well,

Dr. B
