Notification for Families – Confirmed Case of COVID-19

Dear Lafayette Families –

I’m reaching out to share that we have learned of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in one of our parents of a student.  Please read the letter from the DCPS Chancellor in full.  It provides details, as well as guidance from DC Health.   The letter can be found here.   En espanol, aqui.

We know that this is a very uncertain and anxiety producing time.  Please stay healthy, centered, and focused on the positives and the known.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions.  Email, text or call are all fine!  Please take some deep breaths, do something good for yourself, and enjoy this day.  I’m here if you need me.

As a point of clarification on work packets:  I know there are many messages coming from DCPS about coming to school to pick up packets – please disregard them.  There is no need to come up to school. Lafayette students have the materials they need at home and will be provided what they need when we begin distance learning on 3/24.

Myself and teachers will be sending out more detailed information Friday afternoon to prepare us for distance learning to begin on Tuesday, 3/24.  As a gentle reminder, everyone is on spring break.  Teachers will be set to provide work to students and engage in distance learning beginning Tuesday, 3/24.

Take good care,

Dr. B
