**FAQ’s**

  • There are two tests in the box.  Should my child take both tests?
    • You only have to upload the results of one of the rapid tests.  Only one test is required.
  • Can I pick up a rapid test at any DCPS school site for my DCPS student?
    • Yes!
  • If my child has tested positive for COVID recently, but has completed their quarantine period, will they still test positive on the rapid test?
    • It has been explained to me that a rapid test is supposed to only pick up and detect active COVID infections. So even though an individual may continue to test positive on a PCR test due to continuous viral shed, they should not test positive on a rapid test if they do not have an active COVID infection.  *Disclaimer – my doctorate is in education leadership (not public health or epidemiology) so I am sharing my best understanding.  We will work together to navigate any situation that arises.
  • What if my child tests positive on the rapid test?
  • Didn’t the CDC change it’s quarantine and isolation guidance last week?
    • Yes, in fact, they did! However, DC Health and DCPS have not yet changed their guidance.  So we will continue with 10 day isolation periods for a positive test as we have been.  If/when DC Health and DCPS change their guidance, then we will implement it accordingly.
  • Is it possible that we will go virtual or not be able to open?
    • We are doing everything in our power logistically to provide in person instruction to our students. If at anytime there is a change to that plan due to staffing availability and/or other operations I will let you know ASAP.
  • Is there anything we can do to help?
    • Yup! Pick up your tests and upload your results.
    • Remain supportive, patient, and flexible.  We have done an amazing job as a community thus far…I have faith that we can do this too.  If we can collectively keep caring for one another with a smile and some humor, it goes a long long way.
    • Thank you to all the staff who have volunteered to distribute tests on Monday and Tuesday.
    • Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to distribute tests on the Drive Through Pick Up line.

So….here’s to yet another new set of conditions and operations with a little snow to keep it interesting.  We are agile, caring, and amazing as a collective.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions!  We are all in this together!!!

With Love,

Dr. B
