On Wednesday, March 20th we will be exploring some of different ways we can keep ourselves healthy. The overarching theme is Health Moves Minds. We are working in physical education class to incorporate some of the ideas and lessons from peace class to provide our students with a tool belt of strategies to help them emotionally, socially as well as physically.
No need for a babysitter, all family members are invited, though all children should be accompanied by an adult. This a family event designed for families to engage in healthy and fun activities together (can you say fun bonding?). It is also our replacement event for Jump Rope for Heart. Not only will we be exploring ways to be healthy and fit, it is also a community service project. We will be raising funds for a local charity. We have picked Gearing’ up Bicycles, a local organization that engages underserved youth in DC and gives them essential skills to be successful in life while encouraging cycling as a practical, healthy means of transportation . They do a lot more, but that’s it in a nut shell. For more information on Gearing’ up Bicycles, you can visit their website.
No need to sign up, but be on the lookout for a signup Genius to indicate participation. This will help with our planning. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. McClure, Ms. Howes or Ms. Perll.
