As part of the HSA’s Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee work, we will be offering monthly
book clubs for parents. The selected books will discuss race, tolerance, and equity. A list of
children’s books by grade level is being curated by Lafayette parent, Deb Shapiro to accompany
the book’s content.
The February book is Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. The DC Public Library
has more than 20 copies in circulation.
February 25th Book Club: Tonya Esposito is hosting the first book club in her home on
February 25th from 7pm-8:30pm. Space is limited to 15 parents. Sign up here.
February 27th Book Club: Danielle Carter is hosting a second book club in her home that
week to accommodate additional parents on February 27th from 7pm-8:30pm. Space is
limited to 15 parents. Sign up here.
Snacks and beverages will be served at both gatherings.
We will be sending information about the next book clubs in March and our plan is to hold them
monthly until the end of the school year. We hope you will consider joining us one month.
