Students Planning a Revolution of Kindness (SPARK) Student Club

SPARK is Lafayette’s social justice club. 4th and 5th graders can participate in this club during Flex time. SPARK stands for Students Planning a Revolution of Kindness.  For the months of October, November and December we will be focusing on the land that Lafayette currently occupies. We spent the last two meetings honoring the land by cleaning up trash around the school.

Next we’ll be learning about land acknowledgments to honor the indigenous people who lived on this land for thousands of years. In December we’ll be learning more about the Black people who owned and lived on and farmed this land for many years before it was taken by the government in order to build a neighborhood and school exclusively for White people. We are excited to engage with history and learn about what we can do today to make amends and acknowledge these wrongs.  If you have questions, thoughts, or ideas for us please share them with  or
