Walk, Bike and Roll to School and Chalk the Walk THIS WEEK

Please join the HSA as Lafayette participates in the 11th annual National Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day on May 4, 2022 This annual international celebration encourages students to walk, bike or roll to school while teaching the health, environmental and community-building benefits of active transportation and safe routes to school.

This year, the Metropolitan Police Department has volunteered to join us on Bike & Roll Wednesday to ride along with the kids (and biking officers) and provide a squad car escort.  They will be meeting parent volunteers/kids at 8:15am on Wednesday at Tennyson and 33rd St NW to bike the final 4-5 blocks to school.

Lafayette looks forward to taking part in this worldwide celebration as part of our transportation philosophy and commitment to sustainability.  Please join us by wearing your grizzly gear or Lafayette blue the day of and swinging by booths at school entrances to celebrate your walk & roll power with a healthy snack.

Please join the HSA to Chalk the Walk as we prepare for Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day.  We’ll meet in front of school at 5pm on Tuesday, May 3rd to decorate the sidewalks around school in advance of the celebration (assuming no rain).
