Kindergarten Teacher Update

Please help me in welcoming our new member of the Lafayette family - Ms. Shelitia Gowie. She is our 6th kindergarten teacher. A brief bio is below:

Ms. Gowie is from the island of Jamaica and was raised there before moving to South Florida with her family. She attended Spelman College in Atlanta where she majored in Economics before eventually enrolling at Lesley University. Ms. Gowie earned graduate degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education during her time at Lesley. She has taught Kindergarten for the last three years and looks forward to continuing to do so at Lafayette.

As many of you know, we will have the joy of experiencing a solar eclipse on 8/21 - the first day of school! Peak viewing time is around 2:40 pm. We will be viewing the ecplise as a school (our viewing glasses have already arrived!). A team of teachers is working on activities for the whole school to do.

If you have any concerns about this, please contact your teacher prior to the first day of school.
