Dear Lafayette Families –

This morning I emailed out a survey to students who have been offered an in person learning seat for the start of Term 3. If you received a survey, please respond by Wednesday, 1/13 at 5 pm. This is the “real deal” survey – your answer commits you to your learning environment for Term 3 and Term 4.

Remember, your child can always stay virtual. You can also start in person and return to virtual learning at any time. However, you cannot choose to come in person later if you choose virtual now. (**PS - my original email sent this am 1/11, had a typo that may be causing confusion. My apologies!!!).

For Grades K – 2 – we currently do not have enough capacity for every student to return to in person learning if they wish. Therefore, we are utilizing a lottery generated by DCPS. The priorities of the lottery are as follows:
  1. Accepted an IPL seat for Term 2
  2. Student experiencing homelessness
  3. Students with IEPs/ELL services
  4. At Risk Students (as defined by OSSE)
  5. All other students
**This morning I sent out the initial lottery offers. If you did not receive an email, you have not yet been offered a seat.**

As students decline seats, we will be working our way down the waitlist and sending out offers. Please be patient with us. This takes time! I will let the community know once all of our spots are filled so families are up to date on where we are in the process. Our goal is to have all seats offered by Sunday, 1/17.

For Grades PK, and 3rd – 5th – there is enough capacity for any student to return in person who wishes. There is no lottery and all families have been sent emails with a survey to indicate your learning environment. Please respond by Wednesday, 1/13.
