The Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia’s First Juris Prudence Mock Trial for DC-Area Kids Ages 8-12

This event will be held on Saturday, October 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in American University Washington College of Law’s Moot Courtroom.

The Juris Prudence Mock Trial event is a one of a kind legal educational program for children ages 8-12 years old. Attorney, children’s book author, and founder of Juris Prudence LLC, Jessica Childress, will lead the event. The event is based on Childress’ children’s book, The Briefcase of Juris P. Prudence, in which eleven-year-old lawyer Juris P. Prudence fights for children’s right to vote. During the Mock Trial, students will be taken through a series of lessons, explaining the legal system and the role of lawyers and judges. They will also gain a full understanding of how a trial is conducted. Students will act as child lawyers and conduct a mock trial, applying the principles they have learned during the program. The mock trial topic will be, “Should kids have the right to vote?”'
