Cookies and Coding is Saturday- Have You Signed Up?

Back by Popular Demand!

Lafayette's second annual Cookies and Coding event is this Saturday, December 2nd from 1-4 PM. Last year we had an amazing turnout and we hope to fill the school with happy coders again on Saturday. RSVP NOW!

Students in grades Kindergarten – 5th and their families can participate in three different activities relating to coding including: code.org (a site that allows students to learn and practice coding), Spheros (programmable, robotic balls) and unplugged activities (coding activities that do not utilize technology). At the conclusion of the event we will have light refreshments and of course cookies! We will also have some volunteers on site from tech companies and the DCPS technology department to facilitate activities and emphasize the importance of coding.

If you plan on attending please RSVP here. All students should be accompanied by at least one family member for the duration of the event.

In addition, we could really use some volunteers! Even if you don’t have any prior experience with coding there is still a lot you can do. If you are able to volunteer, please sign-up on the sign up genius page here. If you have any questions about the event please direct them to Lafayette’s technology coordinator: nathan.wieand@dc.gov

Hope to see you there and happy coding!
