Where: The home of Jason & Jennifer Bertsch

We’re not going to rabbit on, but this is one bash not to be missed. The price of admission is simple: Each couple or individual attendee must bring one bottle of an after-dinner drink of their choice. The goal is to stockpile bourbon, scotch, whiskey and other digestifs for the LAFAYETTE Harp & Fiddle on Auction night!

This party is BYOB, so bring your choice of beverage to enjoy while relaxing with good company, snacks and tasty desserts. Spots to this party are disappearing fast! If you want to join in, RSVP by e-mailing Jennifer Bertsch. Alright. Brilliant.

Crafty Creators

They are crafty, detail oriented and have artistic flare. Willing to lend a hand in and out of the classroom—quite brilliant. When we sent out the call, they were ready and willing to chip in no questions asked. No task to large or small, they picked up where our wee lads and lasses passed on the baton. In short, the coveted Class Creations would not have come to fruition without them. We can’t thank them enough for pitching in when needed on this time-honored auction category. Pauline Crane, Teresa Bernstein, Paula Quinteros, Rielle Miller Gabrielle, Lise-Mari Venter, Angie Jacobs, Dee Harlow, Emily Mirand-Thompson, Lakeeda Gillespie, Janice Wilding, Jennifer Spence & Rosie Mische John, THANK YOU and go raibh maith agat (may you have goodness)!

What’s that you say?

A recent study states that women voted it as the sexiest accent around. For many, the accent is difficult to understand and they mock the twang, but for others the unique drawl is a source of admiration. For a small country, Ireland has a rich tapestry of accents. There are several theories as to the origin of the brogue. Gaelic was the predominant Irish language for the longest time and to have a brogue is based on the old language no doubt. It could be from the Irish bróg, which translates to stout or rough shoe that was worn traditionally on the Irish and those coming from the Highlands of Scotland. If this is true, then the Irish brogue is the speech of those people whose shoes were called bróg. Some believe the origin of the term was barróg, which literally means accent or hold on the tongue or impediment in speech. No matter the theory, one thing remains true, the Irish were given the gift of the blarney, and there are few things like an authentic Irish brogue.
