Severe Weather Update

Good afternoon Lafayette Families -
At approximately 4 pm, there was a tornado warning issued for the District of Columbia, indicating that a tornado had been sighted. Therefore, all adults and students who are currently in the building, went immediately into our shelter in place protocol. All students involved with CLS, FLEX, Girls on the Run, CCPC, and any other adults and students on the playground were escorted into the basement. We sheltered in place for approximately 7 minutes. Once the warning was lifted, I talked to each group of students and assured them we were safe and that they did an AMAZING job in transitioning into the basement hallways as a precaution. We are all now back to business as usual.

Shoutouts to all the staff members still on campus, or custodial crew, our office staff, the CLS staff, the FLEX teachers and all other adults. It was a smooth effort and everyone was calm and reassuring to students. As always, I am so proud to be part of this incredible team.

Arts Night III will go on as scheduled!!! We will have pizza inside in light of the weather, but everything else will go according to schedule! See some of you this evening.
