Help Cleanup Lafayette Park with your Whole Family!

The Friends of Lafayette Park are holding a Cleanup Day on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Volunteers can come for whatever time they can and are welcome to bring their kids. (We often have a lot of kids come to help).

We have rakes, shovels and bags, so people do not need to bring any tools. Only bring work gloves if you like to wear them.

The cleanup is just light work – picking up litter, pulling weeds, raking leaves, picking up fallen branches and anything else that’s needed. We usually have coffee and donuts there for the volunteers. Students or scout troops can get community service hours for the project if they need them. To answer any questions, please be in touch with Tad Stewart of Friends of Lafayette Park or Anita Sharma, a Lafayette parent.

Book Party at Lafayette Library

Peace of Mind teacher, Linda Ryden, has a new book out and invites you to a free book launch event on Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. in the Lafayette Library to celebrate its publication. As with all of Ms. Ryden’s books, Tyaja Uses The THINK Test features Lafayette students including 5th grader Tyaja James. Come to hear the story, learn about how to use the THINK Test and meet Tyaja and some of the other children in the book. Books will be on sale, and Ms. Ryden will be signing them along with some of the kids.
