Dear Lafayette Parents and Guardians,

Thank you to all who joined us at the HSA's General Meeting on April 26, where we presented draft budget scenarios and spending plans for the upcoming 2021-22 school year. For those of you who could not join us, meeting minutes and slides (see slides 6-11 for draft budget and spending scenarios) are available for your review.

The Lafayette HSA raises money to help support the Lafayette DCPS education community. In addition to classroom supplies, extracurricular programming, support for the Peace Program and teacher appreciation, the HSA has traditionally helped fill gaps left by the school's DCPS budget. To aid in the gap filling, the HSA has provided support for non-personnel school expenditures so that the DCPS budget can maximize teaching and personnel positions. The HSA is using this survey to gather community sentiment to help inform decision-making in the event that fundraising does not align with projected spending.

We are seeking your feedback to guide our final budget decisions and ask that you complete our budget survey, no later than Monday, April 24. We will review all of your feedback and finalize the budget, which will be presented to all HSA members (all parents and guardians of Lafayette students) for a virtual vote before the end of this school year (more info to come!)

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
The Lafayette HSA
