Annual Chevy Chase Day - THIS Saturday, 9/18, 1-4PM

The Chevy Chase Citizens Association is thrilled to announce that we will once again sponsor Chevy Chase DC Day at the Chevy Chase Community Center on Saturday, September 18 from 1 – 4 pm. Many of our neighbors are eager to get back to life as normal, celebrate with their family, visit with friends, and learn more about the Chevy Chase community. While we prudently skipped 2020 CCDCDAY, we will make the 2021 event twice as special.

We have lined up a great zydeco band, Little Red and the Renegades, for music throughout. Other entertainment includes a juggler, magician, balloon art, an art show, kids’ art projects and much more. Ch/ART will offer help to your young artists doing sidewalk chalk art and making paper bag puppets. We will be practicing yoga and dance outdoors. The Fire department will provide big rigs and equipment demonstrations. Many DC government departments will participate including the Office of Planning to discuss the Small Area Plan.

For residents of Wards 3 and 4, meet your Councilmember Cheh and George.
A long-established tradition -- our free Ice Cream giveaway -- will be back.
We need volunteers for set up, clean up and manning the CCCA table. Please let me know if you can help. We have updated our website with a complete list of events. While you are there, consider joining up. It's simple to do. The event is open to all, member or no, but we appreciate the continuing support of the community.
We are following all CDC and DC Health guidelines. Be Smart, Be Safe, Stay Healthy.

Hilana Falafel at BBM on Mondays benefits Lafayette HSA

This is a reminder about our new partnership with Hilana Falafel and the Broad Branch Market. Hilana Falafel was started by Manal Hilana Insley, who has two children that attend Lafayette Elementary.

Hilana Falafel provides authentic "Jerusalem style" falafel sandwiches using fresh/local ingredients from the Washington, DC region. When Manal moved to the United States, she found it difficult to balance working and being a mom. In an effort to do something that she loved that provided flexibility to her schedule, she began serving her falafel at the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market. After receiving amazing reviews, she expanded to the White House FreshFarms market and has since been featured in The Washington Post, Washingtonian Magazine and continues to be highly rated on every online rating platform.

If you or your Lafayette kids are interested in falafel at the Broad Branch Market, 10% of all Hilana Falafel sales will be going to the Lafayette HSA. Available every Monday! This is a great way to support locally-owned businesses and Lafayette! More info to follow in the coming weeks.

Submissions for next week's issue should be emailed to news@lafayettehsa.org. Submissions are due by 9:00 p.m. on Sundays. Submissions received after this time will be included in the following issue, unless instructed otherwise.
