In the fall of 2020, the Lafayette community overwhelmingly voted in support of the Bear Fund Equity Pledge, providing 10% of funds raised during Lafayette’s annual fundraising campaign (known as our Bear Fund campaign) to be donated to the DC Public Education Fund (DC Ed Fund). The DC Ed Fund is a local non-profit that directly supports DC public schools with private funding. The goal was to help support DCPS students beyond the immediate Lafayette community.
As a result of the Lafayette community’s generosity, we donated $10,537 to provide 467 grocery gift cards for families to help support the ongoing immunization effort to bring students back to in-person learning.
