As Dr. B emailed yesterday, Alvin Denmark, Lafayette’s Director of Strategy and Logistics, has unexpectedly passed away. We wanted to share some info on how you can help support and remember Mr. Denmark.
Go Fund Me: Mr. Denmark leaves behind his children, aged 10 and 13. Everyone who knew him knew that his kids were his entire world. Please consider donating to his GoFundMe to fundraise towards college tuition for his children.
Memorial Service: There will also be a memorial for Mr. Denmark this Wednesday evening 11/29 from 6 pm – 8 pm in the school’s cafeteria. Parents, staff and community members are invited to attend. There will be fellowship and meet and greet from 6 pm – 7 pm and tributes and reflections from 7 pm – 8 pm. Unfortunately, children are not able to attend this event.
The Lafayette HSA extends our deepest condolences to Mr. Denmark’s family. Mr. Denmark was an incredibly kind, smart, positive and funny man who spent his days making Lafayette a better place. He first made his profound mark 10 years ago when he was the DCPS operations point person who worked with Dr. B on the building’s modernization. For the past 2 school years Lafayette has been lucky enough to have him run operations at our school, making running D.C.’s largest elementary school look easy. He was a tremendous asset for HSA events big and small and we are forever grateful for his help.
