Mental Health Team Newsletter

The Lafayette Mental Health Team (MHT) is excited to share this month’s MHT Newsletter (English and Spanish versions) focusing on World Kindness Day! We are also very proud to introduce the two newest members of the MHT: Ms. Marjorie Jean, the new Social Worker and Ms. Chioma Tait, the new School Psychologist.

World Kindness Day is Monday, November 13th, but at Lafayette we are celebrating all month long! During morning dropoff on World Kindness Day, members of the Lafayette Mental Health Team, the Lafayette Greeters and the “Rainbow Sparklers”, 4th and 5th graders who attend our combination Pride/Spark meetings, greeted students with a warm welcome and passed out Postcards for Peace. This fun and meaningful project will be completed by students during the school day, giving them the chance to send peace anywhere in the world. Students can then choose to have their postcards included in a kindness mural created by our very own Ms. McLaughlin.

Please visit lafayettehsa.org to find the MHT newsletter with links to learn more about other resources and events to share with your student in celebration of World Kindness Day.
The Mental Health Team has many supports for students up and running. These include lunch bunches, targeted individual and group supports per IEP/504 plans, and the following general education support groups:
  • Banana Splits (for students of parents who are divorced or separated, grades 1-5)
  • Pride/SPARK club (diversity and social justice, grades 4-5)
  • Book Club (grades 2-5)
  • ASL Club (grades 2-5, in conjunction with Brianne Burger, parent volunteer)
  • SEL Legos Club (grades 3-5)
  • She Reigns (Girls of color grades 3-5)
  • KING (Boys of color grades 3-5)
We are enjoying having fun with students and interacting with them via these groups. If you have questions or would like more information about a group please reach out to any member of the Mental Health Team:
